End Of Season/Breeders Cup

So here we are November and we have had the final flat meeting of the season at Doncaster yesterday and is was a tough looking card but we successfully managed to finish in profit with Collateral Damage winning at 11/1ADV and The Galloping Shoe finishing 4th at 20/1!
We had a reasonably successful season and hopefully we can only do one thing next year and that is improve!

Breeders cup!
What a fantastic couple of nights of racing we had on friday and saturday, we saw conduit romp past his rivals in good style and goldikova stamping her authority aswell.
Sadly us Europeans didnt come out on top they beat us 6-8 this year, mastercraftsman, lillie langtry and rip van winkle all disappointed but we did see something amazing in the classic and something I wont ever forget Zenyatta beating the boys in the classic unbelievable! She is basically americas version of Sea The Stars!
If you didnt get a chance to watch this make sure you watch all the replays on AtTheRaces.com website because they were some of the best races u'l ever watch and well worth half an hour of your time.

All-Weather
The all weather now kicks into full swing with a meeting nearly everyday and 2 some days and it looks like there could be some useful sorts coming through the ranks and certainly I have on my watch list is La Gifted, Weet A Surprise, Lesleys Choice and many more. I feel we are in for a good season but for me the countdown to The Lincoln Meeting starts today!

Good luck

Little Upate

Sorry for the lack of updates again its just been mad, but the racing starts to calm down for the winter now and work also calms down this time of year.

Mainly just spend the time making fresh beds for the turkeys and fencing fields for sheep along with feeding and check them daily otherwise its fairly quiet until last week of november where it is full steam ahead with getting sheds ready for kiling starting normally second week of december then its mad until christmas eve!

As far as racing the flat turf really has got my struggling at the end of the season with several disappointing efforts and this week will see the season wrap up at doncaster on saturday with 1 or 2 meetings this week in what will be testing conditions looking at the weather.
The jump season is well under way now but personally it doesnt excite me much and tend to struggle to find too many bets so its all down to the all weather which recently has seen a turn of fortune this week after a massively disappointing week previously and with the turf finishing we should see a bit more consistency etc over the winter months from here on in so fingers crossed plenty of betting opportunities.

Have good week, good luck!

Weekly Update

So another week has gone by and the summer draws further away and the flat season really is coming to a close sadly.

As for work spent most of last week fiddling around with the turkeys, de beaking them and setting up the automatice feeders, also had to get up at 5am friday morning to go to marsh to wean the lambs and bring them back home to fatten up, long while since had to get up at that time!
As for this week well it could be an entertaining one with the boss decided to re-plough most of what i have alreayd ploughed simply because its got so dry we cant get a seed bed so beans are being ploughed in bit crazy if you ask me and complete waste of fuel etc. but its and easy job for me and it what he wants i guess and it pays the bills!

As for the horse racing been a tough week, reasonably holding level on the all weather with having a cracking day on friday. The turf has turned into a bit of a nightmare with all sorts of funny results and un predictable ground conditions.
So I have started to look at the NH scene for my first serious scene over the sticks and things are not going to bad I am still hoping to get excited about it like I do the flat so we shall see of course the AW scene will be my main interest over winter months but the jumps gives me other area to look at!

Anyway have a good week

Larger than normal update

Apologies for the lack of updates recently I have just been so busy with work aswell as quite a lot of racing again!

Mainly just been ploughing and cultivating and continueing to pray for rain its getting bad now we have lambs dropping like flies because of the lack of food available as much as we try to supplement them we cant give them 100% of their diet in the situations we have, along with that our bull has got rather a sore dick after falling off a cow during sexy time and has knocked it and swelled up and he cant get it to go back in so we had to have a rather gorgeous fresh out of uni vet come and clean him up and hopefully swelling will go down and he will be ok! Rather him than me!

As for racing, its been a fantastic week of racing with some classy races at newmarket all be it with disappointing small fields, then the cambridgeshire yesterday again we failed to find the winner! Then to day the Arc and what an amazing horse any normal horse we would have all been laying him at the start not settling pulling hard and boxed in everything looked wrong but yet when asked to stretch on and take the race he did it with ease!

As for my personal betting week it hasnt been a too bad one, again struggled with saturdays racing something I need to look at in the last couple of weeks of the season, also very little return on the turf especially betting on some hot favs who then go and get turned over normally in stakes and listed affairs and just more proof handicaps are more my forte, all weather is going extremely well except again in claimers and sellers again really should stick to handicaps only!

Anyway enjoy the last couple of weeks of the season, will prob post again next weekend its easier to do a weekly review at the moment while so busy!

Good Luck

Sunday

Finally got a day off not exactly the day off I was hoping for lol!!
Started last night watching match of the day was then gonna watch Harpers Island and fell asleep sometime during match of the day and missed Harpers Island so watched that in bed on the iplayer this morning then got upto look at the days racing got ready to go out do weekly shop and go to bookies to watch some races to find when I go outside the few sheep I have where I live have escaped and one is rather ill so then had to spend a hour so fuckin about with them!! RAAAA theyre not in my good books!

Anyway after that was all sorted it was just a quiet day down the bookies with the usual crowd and banter theres nothing better on a sunday afternoon than a laugh with the boys down there!

As far as the racing has gone past few days had a few big bets go down the swanny and more proof that I really should avoid claimers/sellers even if it looks like a horse has got in at a low weight eg Diamond Laura on saturday night kempton massive shock!
STICK TO HANDICAPS!!!

Anyway a few nice bets tomorrow hopefully

Good luck

Tues/Wed/Thurs

Sorry again been a mad week with work dictacting little time in front of the pc with feet up, still ploughin and pull land apart and still praying for some rain!

As for betting turfs bets are going extremely well considering the time of year when things usually start to decline. As for the all weather things are quite so rosy and it may just be that form lines are stretched and weak at the moment and maybe more to come in the months to come!

An added bonus ive had this week is that I can now get on early prices rather than SP as now have a rather smart phone with speedy internet on it which should improve our profit margins!

Good luck with a nice few days of racing from Ascot this weekend!

Monday

Another dry day and the need for rain is getting pretty desperate now and I shouldnt think the scottish are saying the opposite!
Spent the day ploughing with a press which has to be the most annoying bit of kit ever if it happens to drop off in wrong place you cant pick it up next time and becomes extremely frustrating and I had to keep the pace on as boss has decided to drill straight behind the plough as we have let out other fields get far to dry and cannot get them down into a seed bed now!

As far as bets went today was bit hit and miss but luckily the hits were 1 big and 1 small the biggy was shy glance at hamilton who won nicely at 33/1 which looks a huge price for a horse running of its last winning mark only 4-5 starts ago and since been running on unsuitable conditions but anyway at 33/1 I dont mind if it was over priced lol!
Also milton of campsie also won nicely at 13/8 which was handy to just boost up the few losses.

Good luck
Chris

Short Update

Apologies for the lack of updates this week but my phone line went down at start of week and was fixed quickly but for some reason it messed my internet connection up for 5 days making dial up fast and was extremely hard work doing my research so updates were unlikely.

In brief I have struggled with the all weather this week especially at Wolverhampton until last night where things did pick up a bit. As far as turf goes I have had a brilliant run of things this week and hope that can continue to the end of the season. I had a quick work out of my ROI since starting my website and it stands at an impressive 19% which I am more than happy with and long may that continue and just shows hard work does pay off.

As far as personal life goes little to report this week just extremely busy at work ploughing and cultivating although desperate now for some rain to freshen our grass up for the autmun and also give the stubble turnips a much needed drink.
As far as social life done very little was able to spend an evening down the pub on wednesday catching up with a few friends who havnt seen for a long while and watch the footy, and as for women and love life well you know those ones that mess with ya head well I certainly seem to be picking them lately but thats a story for another day!!

Good luck

Wednesday/Thursday

Wednesday started fairly well got out of the yard after feeding to finish ploughing my field only to get a call hour or so later saying that the mechanics were coming to put new oil seals in the wheels fair enough. Trouble was when they started taking the wheel apart they found a lot more problems so she was out of action for the day so then had to get on boss's newer tractor and finish his job trouble is its suppose to be the newest most comfiest tractor but its is so fuckin uncomfortable its unreal!! But atleast we finished early and home to watch the footy and were going to SA come on boys!!

As far as horses did well on turf with Akhenthan winning at 10/1 and funday at 4/1 and the tatling ran his usual solid race at 5/1 for 3rd!

All weather in the evening went well as well with Miss minnies sticking out most and could be interesting on Sat night if she remains entered for 1 of the 2 she is entered in!

Today was much the same my tractor stil sitting in workshop in pieces so back on boss's just cultivating rather boring mundane day to be honest when 6 oclock hit home and hit a corner I called it a day!
Its gotta be said Radio 1 playlist really can be very repetetive!! Come on guys lets play Esmee Denters!! Flippin love that song!!

As for bets quieter day with Five cents winning on promise I noticed last time out otherwise other turf bets were disappointing Sesenta just looked totally out classed sadly and Theatre street just couldnt cope with the rise in handicap.

All weather went well again, with come on buckers and Rose row both winning well for us.

Tuesday

Nice day at work to be honest didnt pick up a single dead turkey which was pleasing and then just had to pull my breast back round on me plough and put a new shear bolt in. Then off to plough for the day didnt quite go to plan with something wobbling loose over night making the plough dig rather deep going up the field and shallow going back down so had to call boss to help assisst in getting it level btu we got there and he buggered off and I cracked on for the day doing nearly 20 acres!

As for racing today was little disappointing on turf with general tufto looking a little tired and pegasus again ran ok but could only manage 4th.
As for the one race I played on the all weather was ok with Regeneration a non runner just left me playing with Santefisio who looked to piss his opportunity up when breaking badly but showed great turn of foot to finish strongly and could still be well treated in coming weeks, as for buxton was heavily backed but just never got into it!

But luckily scrapped back some losses tonight on a nice double on greyhounds which I had recieved tips for earlier in the day, connections do pay off nicely sometimes!

Sunday/Monday

Sunday was a rather quiet day really just had a quick flick through the form of York and had a couple of bets but nothing returned, just then did some housework and went down the bookies to watch the races.

As for today spent the morning waiting about for alorry to unload, then went to plough which was something a bit different for me was going extremely well till i sheared a bolt so now gotta spend tomorrow morning putting a new one in rubbish!!

As for bets had a much better day, Sendali was backed off the boards into 9/2 and went on to win, as far as micks dancer ran a cracker behind what looks a useful sort to claim 2nd at 6/1 for us, and mayoman won nicely for us at 7/1. Pinball probably needs 6f to see him to his best he ran on well.

Saturday- RIP Jamie Kyne & Jan Wilson

A extremely somber affair at all the races today as it felt the shock of the news of the death of Jamie Kyne and Jan Wilson in a fire in the early hours, Jamie Kyne was a very impressive young jockey with a lot of talent, I dont know much about Jan Wilson but my thoughts go out to all those connected and families awful news and I hope when they get the person that done this is burnt alive aswell sick bastard!! Its unbelievable we live in a world where things like this happen. RIP!

From a betting point of view was an extremely busy day and just about broke even with the last race at Wolverhampton to go. Again my best wins have come on the AW and the 5 bets on the turf just Tom Tower ran into 2nd place @ 16/1.

And to just bring more sad news on racing community a favourite among Cumani's yard Curtain Cal had to be destroyed after suffering an injury there was also a nasty incident involving Harleston Snake and really brings home the risk these amazing animals go through to bring us enjoyment!

Friday

So the day of reckoning for Keiran Fallon, could he be as good as he once was?? I dunno before my time in horse racing so hard to judge but he failed to get the winner he was desperate for but does hold some good rides tomorrow so dont write him off just yet!

As for my day well it was yet another frustrating day (really do need to find a new job) spent the day moving the sheep we moved yesterday because boss got fed up with the ol boy where weve got em moaning about them getting out! They dont go far its just a couple of lambs that have worked out how not to get a bite off the electric fence they just potter about in hedge but anyway boss throwed toys out of pram so all work we did yesterday was a waste of time!
By the time we done that it was 3.3o and way past my lunchtime so had quick lunch and just washed the trailer and put plough on back of tractor to be re-metaled over weekend and day was over thank god lol!!

As for horse racing what an awesome day for me!
Turf saw 2 out of 3 bets coming in with puy d'arnac winning well at 9/4 aswell as promise maker at 9/2. Bonnie prince blue was well beaten do happen to think this horse is hit n miss and seems to need a strong ride!
Then onto the all weather at lingfield where jaconet got us off to a cracking start winning at 8/1 then fitz went on to win at 10/3 then bab al salam went in aswel at 2/1 adv. Then brief look won well at 10/11 general ting seemed to need a run and may be better next time out, then drew a blank in last at lingfield with six diamond only managing 3rd.
Candyfloss girl drifted badly and fate was sealed before off, struggling in nursery's at the moment and maybe something I need to leave alone for now. Rock anthem travelled well but lacked when came to finish but bomber command won well for us at 8/1 and spirit of a nation ran well at 7/1 3rd and could be much better next time out after stripping fitter!
Sounds of jupiter was just totally outclassed and jabal tariq went much better but went up front with jupiter and the race was in a very fast time and would suggest maybe went off to fast in front!
But all in all showed a massive profit of 8.52pts after staking just 11.25pts!!

Brilliant card at Kempton again tomorrow and wolverhamton in the evening aswell as a couple cards on turf so make sure you check Horses4Punters.com for my tips!

Thursday

What a totally miserable day, now we were desperate for the rain but still say it should only rain at night lol, but add the wind and I fucking hate it!
Was just one of those days trying to catch up on those 'rainy day jobs' mmmm didnt get too far as per normal when boss is involved most things take far too long so successfully just moved 1 lot of sheep to a new field and washed some turkey drinkers up, the 'rainy day' list is growing not shrinking one day we'l finish it!

As for the racing today:
Only had 2 bets on the turf and both were disappointing, so then it was on to Wolverhampton tonight and was much better.
Lithaam was going well but just faded in last furlong could just be held on current mark on the AW, Admiral bond was given an awful ride never getting on terms. Bertie southstreet won nicely making all from the front and was given a strong ride by holland in the closing stages, could be held next time. Dear mr Fantasy was just out paced and then never got into the race. Leahurst won comfortably and impressively comng from mid division to win well and just maybe capable of a lot better, more time tim also kept his good record on aw going coming 3rd behind Leahurst
All in all the day showed a nice profit so happy that finally getting somewhere with the AW

Onto Kempton and Lingfield tomorrow for all weather action

Wednesday

Yet another frustrating day, I really do have to wonder why I bother getting up so early every morning to piss about like this, get going on me cultivator after feeding the turkeys get to the field do a few acres and the oil seal which had been leaking for months and boss been told needs replacing for months completely goes and dumps all the oil!! Tractor off the road now until someone can fix it!! Why on earth didnt he get it fixed before it went completely wrong I will never know so then spent the rest of day cleaning all the oil of me ol besser!!

As for racing tough on the all weather racing today but only had one bet on turf and that was a winner, so pleased with that @ 6/4.
Flamsteed ran a solid enough race and should be capable of a win but perhaps the 7f was a little too far.
Baby josr ran a stonker and just seems to lack the spark to run a race, but the winner did have aw form good enough on the day.
Desert streak ran awful race probably racing to keen for own good and maybe take the cheekpieces off again next time out would help.
Supernoverre ran a fantastic race but just struggled to carry forward the effort to the line and haafhd time was disappointing being well backed before the off.
Six penny was never on terms and you need to be, and yawary maybe found a mile just a little too far.
Cool hand jake was backed off the boards and came a good enough second for us at 14/1 and striding edge drifted slightly and came 3rd for us at 14/1 aswell so happy with that would have preferred the winner aswell lol!!

Anyway on to tomorrow with couple goodish cards on turf and evening meeting at Wolverhampton

Tuesday

Got to be one of the most frustrating days at work ever, started with just changing a few points on me cultivator and getting out onto the field but then boss wife comes back and says we have a cow calving!
So of we trundle to catch it and bring it home easy peasy I had been luring them into the pen for a few weeks as we knew she was close, got there only to find they had been moved onto the other field where the pen wasnt so we had to stir them up to get em near the pen so just a nightmare finally got her and had the vet out to get to bugger out alive and well!
Then back to me cultivator and struggled and argued the fucking toss with the boss who will insist on re using rusty old bolts to save 1 penny but what he dont realise the time we struggle un doing them next time or doing up this time costs about 40p in labour grrrrr frustrating!

As for the racing extremely frustrating:

Norcroft travelled well but slowly faded and may just need a rest or a trip on to the all weather, also not to concerned as this was a step up in class and ran ok for that. General tufto ran a solid enough racing finishing 3rd for us but left his run maybe far to late and may need a strong ride.
Wingplay disappointed badly just never getting on terms, and mystified ran his usual good race coming 4th but not good enough for us and may just need a 1lb or 2!

All weather starts tomorrow so fingers crossed for a good winter!

Monday

Nice to have an extra day off work this week and was just a quiet one with music on and working through the form for the days races, not really sure why I bothered should have known better for bank holiday racing!

Todays racing:

Billy beetroot wasnt given the best of rides not sure he would have got there but maybe needs putting away for a while looks tired! Cheap streat was travelling well until weakening rapidly not sure where you would go with this out of sort type!
Lucy brown drifted badly in market and fate was sealed before start never really got on terms and never got into it should be capable of more!
Firebet got the run of the race he needed and won quite comfortably in the end to show our own profitable return. Epsom salts made his move far too late and was coming very quickly back at the leader which the field let slip and looks capable off a mark similar to this. Bold cross never got into really maybe needs a little more pace and bigger field may help. Fortunate bid made a bold account from front but showed little in finish and faded rapidly. Shesinthemoney was out the back the whole way and gaps never appeared and was given an awful ride to get on the outside when full of running, sure to go well again!
Sea salt travelled well but just never quickened and may need a shorter trip, flipando was awful i felt never got a decent gap maybe a break now and back on to AW maybe would suit better! Itsalreadythursday looked to be travelling well again and was given a bit of a wet ride by Detori in my opinion never really asked him a question, and new christmas did his usual trick of pissing about in the stalls to end an awful day!

Chris

Sunday

Well woke up feeling a lot more refreshed after friday night lol, fairly quiet relaxing day spent catching up on replays and form researching whilst watching paris hilton simple life in back ground lol! Sad i know but it is so funny lol!

Anyway bets went much better today!
Duchess dora won comfortably even though she was a significant drifter in the market, would be slightly wary next time out if handicapper goes to harsh, Sky high kid was extremely disappointing never on terms and finished practically last lot to prove next time out. Regal lyric was massively disappointing out the rear as last time but made no impression and tailed off disappointingly, valid point went on to win comfortably and another I usually back who has been out of form Screaming brave bounced back to be second, watch out for valid point, goes for hatrick under penalty on thursday typical prescott job! As for rose of coma ran a good enough race but may be worth a try at a shorter trip again! Ocean countess was just a messy race not sure he would have got there had he got a better start or better run. Choisharp was backed heavily and went on to prove why and looks capable of more with a few more pounds yet in the right race.
Rafta refused to race yet AGAIN, Just sat in the stalls like a plum cant believe they havnt worked on it and would be one to steer clear of I think maybe put away for a while would do her some good. Kaolak finished our day of nicely winning at a drifting price of 8/1 running exactly as expected making a bold bid from the front!

Hope for same luck tomorrow but dont hold a lot of hope with it being Bank holiday monday racing!!

Friday/Saturday

Woah what a couple of mad days, spent day at work on friday on me arse cultivating 35 acres on some rough land so was glad when it was all done dont do ya back or neck any good lol! Anyhow now got 3 days off so cant complain!
Went out Friday night for first time into city and ended up in some foam party and apart from that remember very little but hey was quality night, woke up round me mates house about 8.30 watched the morning line before he changed it saying it was crap lol, then went home for shower and felt shattered so went back to bed and got up about 12.30 to look at the racing for saturday!
Then last night went to the dog races at Yarmouth although failed to pick a winner was a quality night for other reasons lol!

As far as the 2 days betting go Friday was a little disappointing although 2 more successful lays were landed, saturday was much better especially with delegator showing he really is class and a good purchase for Godolphin!
As far as todays racing goes its a cracking day for a Sunday so good luck guys and enjoy it!

Thursday

Another normal day at work finally finished straw carting and succesfully took plenty of chunks out of my hands changing point on a cultivator then managed to get 3 blocks of concrete in bloody thing and kept getting bunged up! Anyway the day was soon over home to look at the days racing and getting my head into tomorrows!

Review from todays bets:
Prince ryddarch is extremely disappointing back on an attrictive mark but it looks as though handicapper has nipped him in the bud, usually likes the softer ground but looked to suffer today!
Casino night struggled to get on terms when held off a little too much maybe a better ride next time out would see him go better. Nimmys special defenetily showed a likeable attitude again today and could be one to watch out for again, lack of finishing gear though needs to be noted! 3rd @ 20/1 though!
Stellite was a non runner as expected, Inquisitress was a big price so knew the fate was sealed, last time out looks to be a one off on todays race needs to find something a lot easier.
Whiskey junction tried to make all, and is very difficult on AW at lingfield so think you can discount that race and should do better at some point. Figaro flyer proved that he really is a course specialist and could do better under a stronger ride in the finish would be happy to back on southwell again, Miss glitters looks well handicapped now even back on southwell surface needs a hand from handicapper.

Today showed a disappointing -3.5pt loss!

Chris

Wednesday, 26 August 2009

Wednesday

Quiet day at work just the usual pissing about with the turkeys moving them yet again and then on to yet more straw carting, one more day of that left thank goodness!
As for my bets:
Northside prince showed plenty of promise again in a slog of a race conditions were awful today at Ayr and maybe slightly faster ground would see him go in front again but did come 2nd for us at 6/1. Downhillskier was never on terms in the race and really seemed to struggle may need a hand from handicapper, could be more interesting on the AW again. Tom tower drifted massively from the night market and did make the running until getting tired in final furlong but came 3rd at 12/1 for us. Similar could be said about shaloo diamond who was second for us at 7/1 and step down in trip did see her put a much improved effort but again on that effort you would think a step up in trip would suit again she is a complicated sort and not sure which way I would go for the win again, maybe at this trip again but may need a hand from handicap of a 1lb or 2!
Cheyenne red was well backed fav today and was disappointing when staying very one paced at the finish!
Spiders star had to contend with slightly worse conditions than expected but coped well winning nicely yet again although not a lot left up sleeve maybe??
Select committee was a just weak in the finish and looks one to steer clear of at the moment and bold cross was never really in the race when it boiled up and flattened far to easily
Biggest win came from Bonnie prince blue who proved she was extremely well handicapped today and amazingly drifted out to 8/1 to win for us!

So all in all a reasonable day with a nice profit, especially in conditions that wouldnt normally suit my style of betting, quite often find in these conditions you can chuck the form book out, bit better tomorrow with racing on AW at Lingfield & Southwell! Check out my tips at http://horses4punters.com/backing.php
